Apps Acoustic drone reed adjustment
Tuning
Always test the drones in the pipes, never in your mouth
Adjust strength by moving the bridle a tiny amount at a time.
Away from the drone to weaken, towards drone to strengthen.
Balance the pitch of the drones by moving the black plug.
Away from the reed to lower pitch. Toward the reed to raise pitch.
Do Not
Put reeds into your mouth. Saliva will stop the tongue vibrating.
Spring the tongue of the reed. This will have no effect on tongue
and will weaken the seat.
Do
Ensure that the reed is firmly bedded into the seat of the drone.
Ensure that your drones ALL tune in their correct positions.
Sound the drones with a properly tuned pipe chanter.
If reed stops
Finely adjust the bridle.
Remove any foreign body or saliva by rinsing under cold water.
If problems persist seek advice from the supplier. |
